VITEZ, Jul 5 (Hina) - Bosnian Federation President on Friday upheld
a proposal that the central-Bosnian town of Travnik be arranged in
a similar way to Mostar, put forward by Croat aldermen.
"I have agreed with a proposal put forward by representatives
of Travnik Croats that Travnik be arranged so as to include several
municipalities - a solution that is utterly in accordance with the
Dayton Accords," Zubak said in a statement for Hina.
"Travnik is important for Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina -
before Croat-Moslem conflicts, Travnik's 27,000 Croats made it the
town with the largest proportion of Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina,"
Zubak said.
"Besides, as the seat of one of two counties with parity
representation, Travnik is very similar to Mostar in many respects
and may benefit from a similar arrangement," he said.
Asked to comment on the current position of Croats in Travnik,
Zubak said many of them had left the town even after Croats and
Moslems had reached a truce.
"I will soon visit Travnik and I will try to encourage the
Croats there to be patient and wait for the return of their 20,000
fellow citizens and the establishment of county authorities," he
said.
"I will point out to them the opportunities the Bosnian
Federation will offer to Croats, once it has been fully
established," he concluded.
