CRO PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION IN BRITAIN

LONDON, July 2 (Hina) - A Croatian parliamentary delegation, visiting Great Britain from 30 June to 4 July, on Tuesday held several meetings with representatives the House of Commomns and also held talks with state minister at the British Foreign Affairs Ministry, Nicholas Bonsor. The delegation, led by Zdravka Busic, thanked Bonsor on his efforts to organize visits of British investors to Croatia. The delegation stressed Croatia's interest for tighter relations between the two countries. Busic presented the president of the multi-party parliamentary group for Croatia, Patrick Cormack, with a list of names of representatives of the recently formed Croatian parliamentary group of Croatian-British friendship. The delegation acquainted the president of the parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs, David Howell, with the political situation in Croatia, confirming Croatia's willingness to normalize relations with Serbia, but pointing out the still unsolved issue of the reintegration of eastern Slavonia. Discussing the future of Herzeg-Bosnia and the development of the Croat-Bosniac federation in Bosnia-Herzegovina with Howell, Busic said that the organs of the federation were still not functioning and that the existence of Herzeg-Bosnia was necessary in order to protect the Croats' interests. Once the federal organs start functioning, the organs of Herzeg-Bosnia would not be necessary, Busic said. A delegation member and president of the parliamentary bench of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Ivan Milas, held talks with the president of the parliamentary bench of the British Conservative Party, Alistair Goodland. Milas said that Croatia could be a potentially big market for Great Britain, and that it would welcome the decision of British companies to become a permanent presence on the Croatian market, which could be realized once British companies effected part of their production in Croatia. Milas said that HDZ and the British Conservative Party were sister-parties, saying that it was important to strengthen their relations, which was a wish of Croatian President Franjo Tudjman, and proposed that a Conservatives' representative hold a lecture on the British legal and parliamentary system at the HDZ Fund of the Croatian State Council. The Croatian delegation will travel to Scotland on Wednesday. (hina) ha 022344 MET jul 96
