ZAGREB, July 2 (Hina) - At a session held in Strasbourg on 1-2
July, the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers adopted a
resolution inviting Croatia to Council of Europe membership.
The procedure and ceremony of admission would be determined
at a session of the Committee of Ministers in October.
The Croatian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday expressed
satisfaction with the decision, describing it as yet another
important step towards full admission of Croatia to European
integrations.
Croatia would continue to meet all its commitments regarding
the further promotion of democracy, respect for human rights and
the rule of law in line with the highest European standards.
Croatia would continue to make efforts to establish a
lasting peace and stability in the region.
Through active participation of its representatives to the
Council of Europe, Croatia would contribute to efforts aimed at
achieving the goals of the organization and to cooperation in
Europe.
