ZAGREB, June 13 (Hina) - The presidency of the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) party met on Thursday to discuss views of
the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) on cooperation
negotiations between the two parties. The session was chaired by
President Franjo Tudjman.
The HDZ presidency expressed regrets over the HSLS
decision to reject further negotiations on cooperation,
particularly because the progress of the talks between leaders of
the two parties indicated that an agreement might have been
reached, a statement from the HDZ said.
The talks, the aim of which was to promote democracy and
strengthen Croatia's sovereignty, were welcomed by many prominent
political figures in Croatia and abroad, the statement said.
The HDZ presidency said it was open to further fair,
interparty cooperation.
