In his speech Pavletic recalled that Croatia had been
establishing its independence and the basis of democracy, legal
state and market economy in conditions of horrific aggression of a
more powerful armed force which had been attempting to subdue
Croatia according to a long ago drafted genocide great-Serbian
project.
He stressed that during the war, Croatia had maintained
economic flows under control and stabilized its new currency- the
kuna, reduced inflation, abolished the death penalty and nourished
the freedom of the press.
In concluding his speech, Pavletic said that the richer
European countries should take care that countries in transition
need a little time to adapt to new conditions, and not to commit
them with obligations which were impossible carry out in the short
term.
Countries in transition should jointly find solutions for
every further step towards European integrations - primarily,
central European countries should cooperate, Pavletic said.
