Speaking about their problems, members of the delegation said
that the most important problem was the issue of missing and
imprisoned persons. The status of Vukovar defenders was the second
most important issue. Speaking about the reconstruction of their
town, members of the delegation said that it would be good if a
study on the development of Vukovar could be devised. They also
tackled many other issues, such as elections for the local self-
government, psychological and social problems of displaced persons,
better information system etc.
The Government was doing all it could to solve the problems of
displaced Vukovar residents, Premier Matesa said. As regards the
status of Vukovar defenders, talks would be held with Defence
Minister so that an adequate solution could be found for the
problems of Vukovar defenders, he added.
The reconstruction of the Croatian Danubian area would have a
special status in the state policy. Heavy investments would be set
aside for the reconstruction of the area, Matesa said.
No displaced Vukovar resident would be forced to move anywhere
he is not willing to move, Matesa said in the end.
