Casese said that Bosnia was the only country whose government
had expressed readiness to fully cooperate with the International
War Crimes Tribunal.
The extradition of suspects was the best way of cooperating
with the Tribunal, Casese said, adding that the fact that Bosnia
was ready to submit evidence against perpetrators from its own
armed forces was a very important example.
Speaking of IFOR's possible role in apprehending war
criminals, Casese said that there was evidently a certain restraint
because of possible complications if IFOR did that.
Casese said that he believed that it was just a matter of
time. Karadzic and Mladic were trapped in their own shelters and
they would be apprehended, Casese added.
He announced that he would ask Carl Bildt at the next
conference in Florence that sanctions be reimposed on the Serb
entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and probably on Yugoslavia also.
