ZAGREB, June 4 (Hina) - The Croatian State Administration for the Protection of the Environment on Tuesday held the first workshop on the theme "Application of the Montreal Protocol on Substances Which Damage the Ozone Layer in the Republic of Croatia". The workshop showcased the working material of the Croatian National Programme for the Gradual Elimination of Substances Which Damage the Ozone Layer. This programme was determined by the Croatian State Administration for the Protection of the Environment and is based on an agreement between the Croatian government and the UN Environment Programme. #L# Deputy head of the State Administration, Nenad Mikulic, said that the consumption of substances which damage the ozone layer - TOOO (CFC, solutions, methyl-bromide, aerosol, foam, etc.) in Croatia in 1995 was 40 per cent less than in 1986. This decrease in consumption was not only the result of a planned decrease of TOOO consumption, but was in part also the result of a decrease in industry production. The State Administration for the Protection of the Environment plans to fully terminate the consumption of TOOO (excluding CFC for air-conditioning) in Croatia by the year 2005.
