The talks were also attended by the German Ambassador to
Croatia, Horst Weisel, and State Secretary in the Croatian Interior
Ministry, Vjekoslav Brajovic.
Jarnjak and Schelter expressed satisfaction with the fact that
Germany, Croatia, Austria and Slovenia would sign an agreement end
this May which would regulate the transit of Bosnian refugees
through the four countries. The refugees will not be required to
have transit visas, but they will have to have valid passports.
Switzerland could also sign the agreement, the two officials
agreed.
There are some 320,000 Bosnian refugees in Germany currently.
Their return to Bosnia-Herzegovina should start as of mid 1996 and
last until the end of 1997.
Jarnjak and Schelter also stressed the importance of the
agreement on transit for the implementation of the Dayton peace
agreement, which, among other things, also provides for the return
of all refugees to their homes, the statement said.
