European Headquarters. #L#
The U.S. delegation of Senior Officers, led by Lieutenant
General Jerrold P. Allen, head of the Committee for Planning and
Politics of the U.S. Army European Headquarters, was received by
the Croatian Troops Chief-of-Staff, General Zvonimir Cervenko.
Today's visit also marked the beginning of operations of a
joint Croatian-U.S. military team for cooperation in military
training and the modernization of military systems.
The aim of this team, operating at Croatia's Ministry of
Defence, is the implementation of a programme for the
transformation of eastern and central European military systems
into military systems proportionate to western European standards,
democratic relations and market economy.
This programme, which besides Croatia includes 13 other
countries, is financed by the U.S. European Headquarters. Croatia
expects that its taking part in it will make Croatia's admission
into NATO's Partnership for Peace programme easier.
