eastern Europe were invited to cooperate in a process to join the
European Union at a special session of the Assembly of European
Regions held in Klagenfurt, Austria, on Thursday. #L#
The session discussed the theme "Regions of Croatia, Hungary
and Slovenia on the Way Into the European Union".
The participants in the session held talks on the general
development of relations between the three countries and the
European Union, the development of regional democracy, the opening
of a real estate market and the respect of human and minorities'
rights.
Presiding over the session was Wolfgang Mayer, secretary-
general of the Assembly of European Regions.
Talking about the situation in Croatia was Tamara Capeta,
representative of the Croatian Institute for International
Relations.
