On April 29 HINA issued a release by a French news agency
France Presse, saying that "Bosnian Serb Leader Radovan Karadzic
has been decorated with Order of St. Andrew's, one of the highest
Russian decorations".
"The Embassy responsibly denies any involvement of Russian
Federation's official bodies in this initiative. St. Andrew's Order
was dropped from the List of Russian State Decorations after 1917",
the Embassy's statement said.
"It was an independent association for the development of
cultural and spiritual links with the Orthodox world that awarded
Karadzic its commemorative badge through an agent", the statement
concluded.
