A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON FRIDAY

ZAGREB, 19 April (Hina) - Today's issue of 'VJESNIK' brings a commentary by Nenad Ivankovic on the Final Bill on cooperation with the Hague War Crimes Tribunal which was supported by the Parliament House of Representatives at yesterday's session. The bill would not create any mechanisms which would send Croats to The Hague prisons, Ivankovic says. 'Blaskic Wins First Round' reads the headline of an article on the trial of Major General Tihomir Blaskic. According to the article, Blaskic has been granted better detention conditions. 'Are Serbs Returning To Banovina Illegally?' asks the headline of an article on the return of Croatian Serbs who fled Croatia during its two military actions in the summer 1995. 'VECERNJI LIST' brings an article on the visit of the Malaysian Premier Mahathir Mohamad to Croatia. There is great interest of Malaysian businesspeople in investments in Croatia, the article says. The paper also brings an interview with Ivan Grujic, head of the Croatian Commission for missing and detained persons. The interview is headlined 'Belgrade Cannot Escape Answer'. The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Croatia had agreed to exchange all data on detained, missing, abducted and killed persons, as well as to release all prisoners, Major Grujic said.
