Parliamentary Assembly, Sir Dudley Smith.
ZAGREB, April 11 (Hina) - The President of the Croatian Parliament,
Vlatko Pavletic, on Thursday received the president of the Western
Union Parliamentary Assembly and member of the British delegation
in the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, Sir Dudley Smith.

Pavletic said that Smith was familiar with Croatia's specific
situation, adding Croatia expected from Smith further support in
its efforts to be included in European initiatives.
Recalling the beginning of his long-time interest in Croatia,
Smith expressed hope that Croatia would be admitted to the Council
of Europe. He assessed that most people were symphatetic to Croatia
and said he believed Croatia could be helped to come out of war
situation.
Present at the meeting were Zarko Domljan, Foreign Affairs
Committee president, Zdravka Busic, president of the Inter-
Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee
vice-president, and British Ambassador to Croatia Gavin Hewitt.
