SARAJEVO, Apr 8 (Hina) - The aim of the Wednesday meeting of the
OIC (Organisation of the Islamic Conferenc) Contact Group in
Sarajevo was to analyse the implementation of the peace agreement
and prepare for the impending donors' conference in Brussels,
Bosnian Prime Minister Hasan Muratovic told a news conference on
Monday.
The conference will be attended by the foreign ministers of
permanent OIC Contact Group members (Egypt, Iran, Malaysia,
Marocco, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Senegal and Turkey) who are
expected to arrive in Sarajevo today and tomorrow. The conference
will also involve senior government officials from Bangladesh,
Brunei, Guinea and Indonesia.
The conference will be chaired by OIC Secretary-General Hamid
Al Gabid and the opening speech will be delivered by President
Alija Izetbegovic.
The conference is expected to adopt a statement confirming the
Group's readiness to take part in reconstruction programs.
Muratovic added that the World Bank and the European Union, as
the organisers of the Brussels conference, expected Islamic
countries to make a significant financial contribution to the
reconstruction of Bosnia-Herzegovina. This year's reconstruction
budget totals US$ 1.8 billion, but only US$ 200 million have been
raised so far.
