ZAGREB, 1 April (Hina) - A plenary session of the members of the
Croatian Helsinki Committee (HHO) was held in Zagreb on 30 March
1996, a statement from the Committee said. #L#
The session elected new members: Bozo Kovacevic,
representative in the Parliament from Zagreb, Miomir Matulovic,
assistant dean of the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, Furio Radin,
representative of the Italian minority in the Parliament, Franjo
Starcevic, head of the School of Peace from Mrkpolje and Luka
Vincetic, Roman Catholic priest, essayist and head of Trnave parish
near Djakovo.
The session tackled the return of refugees and displaced
persons as well as the peaceful reintegration of eastern Slavonia,
Baranja and western Srijem. The session adopted a proposal by Zivko
Juzbasic on a declaration on peaceful solution of inter-ethnic
tensions and conflicts as well as his proposal on the establishment
of a committee for inter-ethnic reconciliation and tolerance.
The Committee also adopted a decision on the organisation of a
round table under the name 'Serbs in Croatia - Yesterday, Today and
Tomorrow'. The project would be headed by Ivo Banac, a member of
the HHO Presidency. The round table should be held at the end of
April or at the beginning of May, the statement said.
