Some 22,000 Hungarians had lived in Croatia in 1991. They had
lived mainly in the areas which were still under occupation, vice
president of the Hungarian Democratic Community, Jozsef Kel said.
Members of the Hungarian minority, who had been expelled from
that region, wanted to return to their homes as soon as possible,
Kel said.
The fate of the Hungarian minority proved that the aggressor
had attempted to destroy everything that was non-Serb in the name
of great-Serbian ideology, Kosor said, thanking all people in
Hungary who had helped in the care for not only the Croatian
Hungarians but for the Croats and all other displaced people as
well.
