General Bagger expressed his satisfaction with the meeting.
"We discussed all aspects of the peace process implementation. I
thanked General Cervenko and the Croatian units for the support
they provided to the German IFOR units", Bagger said. The talks
also tackled possibilities of deepening bilateral relations. The
relations between Germany and Croatia would fully develop only when
peace was established on the territory of former Yugoslavia and
after the Dayton Agreement was completely implemented, Bagger
concluded.
General Cervenko stressed that Croatia welcomed the presence
of German units within the NATO force, adding that his country had
met its commitments regarding the implementation of the peace
agreement. 'Our relations with IFOR and German units in this area
are absolutely correct and our cooperation will continue', Cervenko
said.
General Bagger and Military Attaché in Croatia Peer Schwan,
accompanied by General Cervenko and the head of the Croatian army
Homeguard Department, Major General Pavo Miljevac and Brigadier
Miro Andric, left Zagreb for Split to visit the German IFOR units.
