ROME, Feb 18 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman held
bilateral talks with Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic and
Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic in Rome on Saturday night as
part a two-day summit on the implementation of the Dayton peace
accords in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Tudjman and Izetbegovic discussed issues related to the
functioning of the Croat-Moslem federation in Bosnia-Herzegovina,
including cantonal boundaries, return of refugees, political and
religious freedoms, and the problem of Mostar.
The summit was taking place in the Italian Foreign Ministry
and it also involved representatives of the Contact Group member
states, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe
(OSCE) and NATO. It was opened by Italian Foreign Minister
Susanna Agnelli.
After the plenary session, the second part of which was held
behind closed doors, President Tudjman met representatives of the
European Union.
Tudjman would again meet Izetbegovic on Sunday morning and
was later also expected to be received by Italian President Oscar
Luigi Scalfaro.
The Croat and Moslem mayors of Mostar, Mijo Brajkovic and
Safet Orucevic, and Mostar's EU administrator, Hans Koschnik, had
been invited to the summit by US Assistant Secretary of State
Richard Holbrooke and were expected in Rome on Sunday.
