ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - Croatian government issued a statement on
Thursday in relation to a letter forwarded to the Prime Minister
Zlatko Matesa by head of the largest national trade union Dragutin
Lesar. #L#
The government reproached to the union activists a "lack of
congeniality" saying it held such a sort of communication
unacceptable.
"Contrary to the groundless qualifications saying that the
Government rejected a social dialogue and social partnership, the
Government reiterates its commitment to the social dialogue with
unions and associations of employers," the statement said.
The government also reiterated, the statement said, it stayed
with its proclaimed policy of the wages, and underscored that the
policy did not put the collective negotiations and making
collective contracts at stake.
"The Government remains open for dialogue and negotiations on
the wages policy as well, but not before September 1996," when
exact figures would become available to say whether a policy shift
would be conceivable or not.
The Government also expressed willingness for dialogue and
negotiations on projection of the taxation policy, but assessed
that, for the time being, there was no room for a change of the
policy, particularly not concerning the 1996 national budget.
The negotiations with the trade union federations over all
open questions were expected to be resumed, the government added,
saying it had charged, on its Thursday session, the Labour and
Social Welfare Minister Joso Skara to continue the talks in his
Ministry as of next Monday, the statement said.
