'Koschnik's Decision Embitters Mostar Croats'. #L#
Journalist Inoslav Besker writes about the attitude of the
western world towards Srebrenica and the crimes committed there by
the Serb soldiers.
On its two central pages 'Vjesnik' brings an article on the
reorganization of the Croatian army.
'Foreign bankers are not only interested in coming to Croatia,
they are coming with interest rates that are more than favourable
for us', says a "VECERNJI LIST" article on the start of the first
Croatian financial forum.
The 'theory of balance' is the main topic of Mirko Galic's
commentary piece "Loss of Balance" on the war in former Yugoslavia.
According to the theory none of the parties involved in the
conflict is innocent. Galic concludes that there is no war which
leaves its participants 'clean'. 'It is not unimportant though how
much 'dirty' one is'.
Croatian television last night broadcast Jozo Curic's
commentary on the situation in Mostar.
'The EU Administrator of Mostar Hans Koschnik explained that
he wanted to preserve the idea of Mostar as one city. The Croats
are not against that idea. Kresimir Zubak and Alija Izetbegovic,
among others, signed an agreement on this, President Tudjman and
Warren Christopher were witnesses. What is most important, Hans
Koschnik too signed the agreement 85 days ago in Dayton. He has
already forgotten the 3rd provision of the Principle on the
Transitional Statute of Mostar which says: The City of Mostar shall
consist of six separate municipalities. Koschnik also forgets that
the Item 12 of the Principle says that each person who is 18 years
old and registered in the 1991 Census, with residence in Mostar
municipality, has the right to choose and be chosen into the city
and municipal council. Koschnik's plan ignores the agreement,
introduces seven instead of six municipalities and 6,000 Croats and
Muslims from the former Mostar municipality lose their right to
choose and be chosen into the city and municipal council of
Mostar', Curic says.
