ZAGREB, Jan 30 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament House of Representatives adopted the draft budget for 1996 by a majority of votes on Tuesday. The budget amounts to 35.6 billion kunas (or 9.6 German marks, DEM). The adoption of the
budget followed a parliamentary discussion on 54 amendments.

Representatives adopted the draft budget for 1996 by a majority of
votes on Tuesday. The budget amounts to 35.6 billion kunas (or 9.6
German marks, DEM).
The adoption of the budget followed a parliamentary discussion
on 54 amendments. #L#
According to the budget, its revenues will come to almost
31.1 billion kunas (DEM 8.4 billion), whereas budgetary
expenditure, along with loans, will be more than 33.2 billion kunas
(DEM 8.9 billion) this year.
The budget deficit will be covered by debits from abroad.
The largest part of the budget revenue will come from tax
yield with a sum larger than 29 billion kunas (DEM 7.8), and the
rest will be covered by interests, earnings of public companies and
the sale of property.
The budgetary item with 1.6 billion kunas (DEM 432 million) is
earmarked for reconstruction, or 162 percent above the last year
budget's item. The road construction will need 1.2 billion kunas
(DEM 324 million), or 89.18 above the last year.
The budget provides 1.1 billion kunas (DEM 297 million) for
transfers to pension insurance funds. The budget item for social
welfare is 320 million kunas (DEM 86.5 million), the item for
disabled war veterans and civilian invalids 600 million kunas (DEM
162 million), the item for refugees 800 million kunas (DEM 216
million), the item for the bank reorganization 800 million kunas,
and the item for the construction of tourist facilities 650 million
kunas (DEM 175.6 million).
Croatia is planning to borrow more than 4.3 billion kunas (DEM
1.2 billion) from foreign countries. Out of that sum, 2.3 billion
kunas (DEM 622 million) will be funds for paying debts to the Paris
and London clubs.
