STRASBOURG, Jan 26 (Hina) - Russia's admittance to the Council of
Europe had opened the way for Croatia to enter this organisation,
since Croatia met far more requirements than Russia, as far as the
admittance to the Council of Europe was concerned, Croatian
Parliament deputy speaker and head of the Croatian delegation at a
Parliamentary Assembly session, Zarko Domljan, said on Friday. #L#
After Russia had been admitted, there was no reason why
Croatia should not be admitted as well, Domljan said, adding
Croatia would probably enter the Council of Europe in April.
Speaking about the topics that had been discussed during the
last day of the five-day session of the Parliamentary Assembly,
Domljan said that the most important discussion for Croatia was the
one about the problems of refugees and displaced persons as well as
the reconstruction in some states of the former Yugoslavia.
The session also accepted a request demanding that the problem
of the return of displaced persons to the liberated Croatian areas
and the problem of Muslim refugees from Velika Kladusa, who are
currently accommodated in the village of Kupljensko, Croatia, be
solved, Domljan said.
