The Croatian delegation is defending the national report under
the convention on the rights of children which Croatia accepted in
1991.
Members of the Council who are considering Croatia's report
asked the Croatian delegation a number of questions concerning the
family law, medical care for children, right to education and
appointment of an attorney for children rights.
Addressing the Council, Vera Babic stressed great efforts
Croatia was undertaking to alleviate severe consequences of the
violation of the Convention on Child Rights, committed in the Serb
aggression against Croatia.
Babic warned of frequent cases of violation of international
humanitarian law regulations, as well as of the right of children
to life, survival and adequate social and spiritual development.
