ZAGREB, Jan 22 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic received Japanese Ambassador to Croatia, Tsujoshi Kurokawa, who is based in Vienna, on Monday on a farewell visit, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

received Japanese Ambassador to Croatia, Tsujoshi Kurokawa, who is
based in Vienna, on Monday on a farewell visit, the Foreign

Minister Granic thanked Ambassador Kurokawa for good
cooperation and particularly for humanitarian aid Japan had sent to
Croatia during the aggression. He briefed the Japanese Ambassador
on preparations for implementation of the Basic Agreement on
Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Sirmium.
The Republic of Croatia is pleased with the choice of General
Klein for the Transitional Administrator of the area, Granic said
adding that Croatian authorities were ready for the beginning of a
process of the reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area into the
Croatian constitutional and legal system.
Speaking about the current situation in neighbouring Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Granic stressed that Croatia fully supported the
Washington and Dayton accords and that his country was making every
effort to strengthen the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and make
it viable on the ground.
Concerning bilateral relations between Croatia and Japan
Minister Granic said they were steadily progressing, and voiced
hope that Japan would soon establish its embassy in Zagreb.
The Japanese Ambassador said that, as being a witness of
developments in the former Yugoslavia, he was sure that in the
future the Republic of Croatia would play a very important role in
progress of peace and security in this part of Europe.
