The delegation presented President Tudjman with Association's
annual award for his contribution to the development of car,
motorcycle and go-cart racing in Croatia. President Tudjman
received the award on the occasion of the Day of the Croatian
Automobile Association.
The HAMS delegation informed President Tudjman about their
work in 1995 and stressed that 78 races had been organised for the
championship of Croatia. Development of infrastructure and the
construction of a motordrome in Zagreb would improve HAMS work,
President Tudjman and his guests agreed.
President Tudjman expressed support to HAMS future activities
and stressed the importance of participation of Croatia in
international sport events. The President especially thanked HAMS
President Vilko Sever on his help to the Croatian military and
police forces during the war. Sever donated some 220 motorcycles in
times when the country itself could not secure all necessary
equipment for its military forces.
Today's talks were also attended by President Tudjman's
advisor on social affairs, Zlatko Canjuga.
After the talks, HAMS President Vilko Sever said they had
discussed problems of motor sports and expressed hope that its
position would improve. Zagreb should get a motordrome, Sever said,
adding HAMS had already devised four projects for its construction.
