Croatian Parliament Speaker Vlatko Pavletic greeted the
Bulgarian President, the Bulgarian state delegation and members of
the Croatian Government.
'We have here a very interesting personality whose political
role in Bulgaria is based on his work aimed at disclosing any kind
of totalitarianism, be it nazism, fascism or communism. His deep
analysis of social and political problems of today enables Zelju
Zelev to enter the company of two other distinguished statesmen.
One of them is Vaclav Havel, who won respect and realized the core
of the problem through artist's intuition and the other is Franjo
Tudjman who made an epochal effort and established the Croatian
state, not only through his deep analysis of Croatian history that
lasted several decades, but through the analysis of the general
problem of historical wastelands', Pavletic said.
'Speaking about fascism, Zelev disclosed the rigid communist
dictatorship in Bulgaria and had to pay for it by being a victim of
pressure and persecution', Pavletic said and continued to speak
about Zelev's scientific work.
The Croatian Parliament Speaker put special stress on the
theory of personality, developed by President Zelev as well as on
Zelev's analysis of conflicts within post-communist societies.
President Zelev's visit to Croatia coincided with the
publishing of the Croatian translation of his book entitled
'Relational Theory of Personality', Pavletic said.
'In his approach to the reality, Zelev is consistently
democratic and oriented towards humanism... that is why we are
especially pleased to give a warm welcome to this statesman and
scientist.
Today's visit of Bulgarian President Zelju Zelev to the
Croatian Parliament is the expected step forward in the
strengthening of good relations between the two countries, which
are not burdened with unsolved problems and which are turned
towards Europe and its institutions', Pavletic said, inviting
President Zelev in Bulgarian to address the Croatian
parliamentarians.
