ZAGREB, Jan 8 (Hina) - Croatian seismologic institute reported a
powerful earthquake in the southern Mt Dinara area at 12:46 hours
(CET) Monday.
The epicenter was located 220 kilometers south of Zagreb and
was graded 3.9 points according to the Richter scale or 6 points on
the Mercalli-Cancani-Sieberg scale.
The quake has shaken the wider Dalmatian area, including towns
of Sibenik, Split, Sin, and Knin -- but the institute believed it
could have caused only minor damage, being centered at the scarcely
populated areas.
