SARAJEVO, 22 Dec (Hina) - During his official talks in Sarajevo on
Monday, US President Bill Clinton insisted on a speedier return of
refugees to the whole of Bosnia-Herzegovina, said Mirza Hajric,
advisor on foreign affairs to the President of the Bosnian
Presidency Alija Izetbegovic.
"The question of Sarajevo was brought up and President Clinton
supported a proposal by Sarajevo Canton for Sarajevo to be declared
an open city," Hajric told reporters on Monday.
Clinton told the Presidency members that US troops would withdraw
from Bosnia-Herzegovina after it was established that the Dayton
agreement had been implemented, Hajric said.
"Clinton said he wanted to prevent those who obstruct the peace
agreement and to discourage those who think that stalling and
obstructing will tire the international community out and enable
them to realise their separatist goals," Hajric said.
Clinton's estimation was the key element of his visit to Sarajevo,
Hajric said.
