WORLD-FAMOUS CELLIST ROSTROPOVICH TO PLAY IN ZAGREB IN FEBRUARY

( Editorial: --> weekend ) ZAGREB, Dec 14 (Hina) - One of the leading musicians of this century, cellist and composer Mstislav Rostropovich, will play at a gala concert in Zagreb on February 13, organisers announced this week. Rostropovich will play with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra in Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall. The concert will be conducted by Alexander Rahbari. Rostropovich celebrated his 70th birthday in November, holding three concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra where he presented himself both as a soloist and a conductor. Many 20th century composers, including Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Khachaturian, Britten and Bernstein, dedicated works from the cello repertoire to Rostropovich. (hina) vm 141754 MET dec 97
