ZAGREB, Dec 8 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic on
Monday received a delegation of the Macedonian Parliament's
Foreign Relations Committee headed by its chairwoman Ilinka
Mitrova, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Granic informed the Macedonian delegation about the current
political situation in Croatia, stressing the importance of the
timely and successful termination of the UNTAES mandate on January
15 next year, as had been proposed in a report by the UN Secretary
General.
The two sides said that both political and economic relations
between Croatia and Macedonia were very good.
Granic said there was room for improving economic cooperation,
adding that an important step in that direction would be the signing
of a bilateral agreement on property relations.
The Macedonian delegation also visited the Croatian Parliament
where they met Parliamentary Speaker Vlatko Pavletic and members of
the Foreign Relations Committee, headed by its chairman Zarko
Domljan.
Mitreva told reporters after the talks that they discussed in
detail the domestic policies of the two countries and their
environs. We determined that we shared views on Euro-Atlantic
integration processes, good neighbourly relations and stability in
the region, she added.
Both delegations expressed support for the Dayton peace agreement.
It was said that Croatia and Macedonia shared views on the
succession process of the former Yugoslavia.
