ZAGREB, Dec 3 (Hina) - The office of the Zagreb county attorney said
on Wednesday it had pressed charges against nine persons suspected
of committing criminal offences during the war in the Pakrac area,
100 km east of Zagreb.
The indictment was forwarded to the Zagreb County Court on December
1 after the completion of an investigation into the "Pakracka
Poljana" case, the office said in a statement.
The accused are charged with a total of ten crimes, including
illegal arrest, murder and attempted murder. Another person is
still under investigation.
Among the accused is Miroslav Bajramovic, who described the crimes
in Pakracka Poljana in an interview with the Feral Tribune weekly
published on September 1. However, he was not charged with the
crimes he had spoken of in that interview.
An investigation into the events recounted by Bajramovic in the
interview is in progress. Bajramovic rejected the Feral Tribune
interview as untrue, the statement said.
The county attorney's office said it would pass a final ruling on
the case after the completion of the overall investigation.
Three of the accused and the person still under investigation are
held in the custody of the Zagreb County Court.
