VUKOVAR, Dec 2 (Hina) - The Vukovar County Court is fully
functioning and performing its task, despite all difficulties and
problems regarding premises, Court president Ante Zeljko said
Tuesday.
The legal security of Vukovar-Srijem County residents is
favourable thanks to, among else, the successful work of the County
and Municipal Courts in Vukovar, Zeljko said.
There had been no incidents at either court, he added.
Croatian judicial bodies began functioning in the eastern part of
the country on September 30. The County Court employed 21 person
from the area, and the Municipal Court 22 persons.
"All of them regularly come to do their job and are outstandingly
fair," Zeljko said.
He also commended formerly displaced employees who returned to
their jobs at the County Court.
There are 58 persons currently employed at the County Court in
Vukovar, and nine of them are judges. The ratio of Croat and Serb
judges at both the Municipal and County Courts is 60 to 40.
"We have fully taken over all issues, apart from criminal offences
committed by juveniles. We will start dealing with that early next
year," Zeljko said.
He said problems concerning premises could be solved by
reconstructing the completely demolished old court building, which
the Croatian justice ministry advocates.
