JOINT DELEGATION VISITS SCHOOLS IN DANUBE RIVER REGION

( Editorial: --> 4440 ) VUKOVAR, Nov 28 (Hina) - A joint delegation of the Croatian education ministry and the Joint Council of (Serb) Municipalities on Friday began a tour of schools in the UN-administered part of eastern Croatia, in order to determine whether an agreement on bilingual school documents, seals and school plates was being complied with. Next week, the delegation should visit 32 primary and nine secondary schools in the Croatian Danube river region and will submit a report to the National Committee for the restoration of inter-ethnic trust. Today, the delegation visited the fourth elementary school in Vukovar and the elementary school in Borovo Selo, where they held talks with headmasters and visited pupils during classes. The schools have already been provided with bilingual school plates and seals, Croatian assistant education minister Bozica Simlesa told reporters. The obligation to keep bilingual school documents is being complied with, she added. "Some teachers are still contrary to that, but everything takes time, and we hope there will be no major problems", Simlesa said, adding she was satisfied with how classes were proceeding.
