RESIDENTS COMMEMORATE SIXTH ANNIVERSARY OF FALL OF LASLOVO

( Editorial: --> 3330 ) OSIJEK/LASLOVO, 24 Nov (Hina) - The sixth anniversary of the fall of Laslovo (eastern Slavonia) was marked in Osijek on Monday. Laslovo was occupied by the Serb aggressor on 24 November 1991, after 152 days of resistance. Thirty-eight defenders and civilians were killed, four defenders were captured and seven civilians went missing during the defence of Laslovo. Families of killed and missing Laslovo residents were addressed by representatives of Laslovo defenders and municipal leaders. After the withdrawal of UNTAES, which was no longer uncertain, the year 1998 would be the year of return to Laslovo, they said. Wreaths were laid and candles were lit in memory of killed defenders and civilians at the memorial park in Laslovo, for the first time after six years.
