CROATIA WASN'T INVITED TO CRETE SUMMIT AS IT ISN'T BALKAN COUNTRY - SANADER

SANADER ( Editorial: --> 7946 ) ZAGREB, Nov 4 (Hina) - Croatia is not a Balkan country and therefore it has not been invited to a summit of the Balkan countries on Crete, but Croatia is interested in the results of that meeting, said a Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister, Ivo Sanader, on Monday. Speaking in the late night's news broadcast "Motrista" on Croatian Television, Sanader said that there was no invitation for Croatia as "Croatia has showed clearly that it regards itself as a central European and Mediterranean country." The Balkans has several trouble spots, and that's why it is good that the summit is being held, he said adding Croatia would like that in that region developments may take place according to agreements. The first summit of Balkan countries began on Crete on Monday, being dedicated to the revival of the Balkan region and settlements of regional disputes. It draws representatives of eight countries - Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Turkey and Yugoslavia. (hina) jn mš 041156 MET nov 97
