VUKOVAR, Nov 1 (Hina) - All cars of the Croatian Danube region must
have Croatian licence plates as of Saturday, 1 November.
In accordance with Croatian regulations, the Transitional Police
Force will punish local drivers who do not install Croatian licence
plates, the UN Transitional Administration for the region
(UNTAES)has warned.
Almost all cars in the Croatian Danube region have had illegal
plates of the self-proclaimed republic of 'Serb krajina' to date.
Some drivers, however, have set legal Croatian plates in recent
days, following the UNTAES frequent calls to do so.
Since 3 June this year, cars of this Croatian region could be
registered according to Croatian rules. If drivers wanted to get
Croatian licence plates from that date to 15 September they had to
pay only a quarter of the mandatory insurance on cars.
