VUKOVAR, Oct 21 (Hina) - Croatian Justice Minister Miroslav
Separovic and deputy to the UN Transitional Administrator for the
Croatian Danubian area, Souren Seraydarian, signed a Memorandum on
Understanding and Reintegration of the Beli Manastir prison in
Vukovar on Tuesday.
The prison functions as part of the Croatian justice and penal
system as of Tuesday.
Under the document, the Beli Manastir prison will function as a
department of the Osijek prison and all Croatian citizens who had so
far worked in the prison would remain employees.
Guards will wear Transitional Force uniforms and plaques on the
prison will be bilingual.
Speaking about the process of introduction of the Croatian justice
system into the Croatian Danube river region hitherto, Separovic
expressed satisfaction about the fact that all courtrooms had began
working on a regular basis in their centres and that the justice
system had been reintegrated in a completely satisfactory manner.
Seraydarian also expressed satisfaction and said UNTAES would
continue to supervise the Croatian justice system in the Danubian
area.
