SARAJEVO, Oct 21 (Hina) - The Mission of the Organisation for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Bosnia announced on
Tuesday that parliamentary elections in the Serb entity would take
place on November 23 as had been announced previously.
Ambassador Robert Frowick, head of the OSCE mission and chairman of
the Provisional Electoral Commission, had announced at Tuesday's
Commission session that elections for the People's Assembly of
Republika Srpska would take place on November 23 1997, the Sarajevo
OSCE said in a statement.
Bosnian Serb leaders in Pale have so far opposed the elections,
making their holding conditional upon elections for the president
of the Serb entity.
Frowick held talks with leaders of the Serb Democratic Party in Pale
on Monday. OSCE spokesman Johan Verhayden described the talks as
constructive.
