OSIJEK, Oct 17 (Hina) - Osijek Mayor Zlatko Kramaric on Friday met a
delegation of the Council of Europe congress of local and regional
authorities, headed by rapporteur Helene Lund.
Speaking about local self-government, Kramaric said Croatia
has too many municipalities, towns and counties. Their number has to
be reduced, he said.
He also spoke about the urban and regional tradition in
Croatia and the tradition of a decentralized administration, which
he advocates.
The Council of Europe representatives inquired about tax rate
issues, relations between town and county authorities, and
possibilities of cooperation among municipalities.
