Matesa is heading a government delegation including the
governor of the National Bank of Croatia, Marko Skreb and Economy
Minister Nenad Porges, on a working visit to Austria.
Expressing satisfaction with the talks, Randa and Matesa
told reporters that the talks had focused on further cooperation
and Bank Austria's plans in Croatia. Bank Austria intended to
open a network of offices in Croatia. The first office to be
opened after the one in Zagreb will be in Dubrovnik.
We have excellent relations with important Croatian
companies, said Randa and thanked the Croatian government for its
efficient support.
The fact that the biggest Austrian bank had opened its
office in Croatia was stimulating and important, Matesa said. It
was also a sign of trust in Croatia's economy and the stability
of its political system, he added.
Matesa stressed that his talks with Randa had focused on
some larger future investments. He expressed Croatia's readiness
to include Bank Austria in projects of building infrastructure in
Croatia.
Economy Minister Porges held talks with his Austrian
counterpart Johannes Farnleitner about possibilities of
developing economic cooperation between the two countries.
The two officials discussed the improvement of traffic
connections, investments into electric power industry facilities
and some infrastructure projects. The Croatian delegation will
also take part in a seminar on the opportunities of foreign
investment in Croatia.
