ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) - "The act of ten Croats who stated they
would go to The Hague voluntarily comes at the right time, after
the Americans had given certain guarantees we did not have until
now", said Croatian Defence Minister Gojko Susak on Sunday,
commenting on the information that ten Croats have agreed to go
to The Hague voluntarily and have fair trial before the
International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia (ICTY). #L#
Taught by the experience in the Blaskic case, we had
neither moral nor any other right to influence these people to
surrender voluntarily,' Susak said, adding that after guarantees
had been received in Washington, the indictees had been sent
messages and ten of them, including Dario Kordic, had responded.
I think this is good for them too, because they are
guaranteed that the trial will be fair and that it will start
within three to five months, Susak said, adding he hoped that the
Croat leadership and all Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina would take
over the responsibility of providing good defence for the
indictees, care for their families and best possible lawyers.
He added he hoped that Croatia would not fail when it comes
to helping the indicted.
