ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament's House of
Representatives on Friday confirmed Deputy Prime Minister Borislav
Skegro as Minister of Finance and Sergej Morsan as Minister of
Tourism.
During a vote of confidence, 76 deputies voted in favour of
Skegro, five were against while 13 abstained. Morsan received 91
votes in favour, while three deputies abstained.
Speaking before the vote about the appointment of the new
ministers, Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa said that Skegro was one of
the architects of the economic stabilisation programme which had
produced convincing results despite the war situation: the stability
of the economic system, a stable exchange rate, the growth of
industrial production and gross domestic product.
Matesa said that the new finance minister would ensure the
continuity of the tax reform.
Explaining the appointment of the minister of tourism, Matesa
said that Morsan had experience in marketing, and that the promotion
of the Croatian tourist industry would be the focus of the
government's interest in the coming years.
