OSIJEK/BELI MANASTIR, Sept 26 (Hina) - Croatian Culture Minister
Bozo Biskupic on Friday visited Beli Manastir, Batina and the
Kopacki Rit National Park in eastern Croatia.
After visiting the town's central library in Beli Manastir,
which he presented with several hundred books, the minister of
culture expressed satisfaction with the library's work and number of
books.
Biskupic also held talks with Beli Manastir Mayor Veljko
Bertic and his associates. He recommended that they apply for a
Ministry of Culture competition for financing culture programmes
over the next year.
Later, Biskupic visited the Batina memorial grounds and the
Baranja 97 art colony, which opened yesterday. Established in 1968,
the colony gathers some 30 painters and sculptors. Its activity was
stopped in 1990, and continued only this year.
Minister Biskupic also visited the Kopacki Rit National Park.
On a recent visit to Paris, he advocated its inclusion on UNESCO's
list of world natural beauties.
