ZAGREB, 20 Sept (Hina) - The international race of old vehicles
Liege-Istanbul-Liege, held under the auspices of the Belgian
Prince and the Federation Internationale des Vehicules Anciens
(FIVA) and organised by the Belgian Motor Classic Union Club,
will this year also go through Croatia.
The race will be held under the auspices of the Croatian
Tourist Association and in the organisation of HAK-Turizam (a
Croatian Auto-Club company) on the sections Debeli brijeg-
Dubrovnik-Zadar and Zadar-National park Plitvice lakes-Prezid on
26 and 27 September.
This year's rally goes through 12 countries ad includes
some 140 vehicles and more than 200 participants. In Croatia, the
rally will be covered by seven TV nets, including satellite
stations Eurosport and DSF. The organiser of the event wants the
rally to go along the same route in Croatia as in 1961.
Motor Classic Union Club from Belgium was the organiser of
the rally Liege-Rome-Liege and Liege-Sofia-Liege held between
1931 and 1965.
The rally was renewed in 1991, but only for cars older than
1965 and not in the form of competition, so that its participants
could learn more about different regions and people.
Between 1991 and 1994 four rallies Liege-Rome-Liege were
organised and in 1995 Liege-Sofia-Liege rally was held. More than
200 people from nine countries participated in the race, covering
6,000 km through ten countries.
