$ OCCUPIED AREA
ZAGREB, Sept 16 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's House of
Counties on Tuesday supported with a majority of vote (six
abstentions) a bill on the invalidity of acts passed in formerly
occupied areas which the government sent to parliament for urgent
procedure.
In line with the said bill, all legal provisions and
general acts passed in formerly occupied areas become invalid.
The legal effects of court decisions in criminal, civic and
administrative matters would be acknowledged only after a
Croatian judicial authority body investigated their validity. The
legal effects of decisions made by administration bodies would be
acknowledged on condition that they are not contrary to the
Croatian constitution and provisions.
The proposed bill would also regulate land registration,
the registration of legal persons in formerly occupied areas, and
an employment-based right, both for refugees-Croatian citizens
from formerly occupied areas, and for those who lived in those
areas during occupation. The employment-based right would not
extend to citizens who partook in the aggression on Croatia in
para-military units.
