MANASTIR COAT OF ARMS AND FLAG
OSIJEK, Sept 9 (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian Democratic Union
and the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS) in the local government
of Beli Manastir, a town in eastern Croatia under UN transitional
administration, reached agreement on Tuesday on the design of a town coat
of arms and a flag.
A statement from the session said that the official coat of arms of Beli
Manastir would be an old coat of arms of the Baranja region featuring a deer
and wheat, but without ideological symbols of the former system. The flag
will be white with the motif from the coat of arms.
It was agreed that Town Day would be observed on May 31, when
the town council was established according to the laws of the Republic of
Croatia.
The meeting was also attended by Osijek-Baranja County prefect
Branimir Glavas and his deputy Mirko Blagojevic, UNTAES civil affairs
coordinator Gerard Fischer, UNTAES civil affairs chief for Baranja Tom
Kargbo, head of the Vukovar coordination centre of the EU Monitor Mission
Gustav Meeze and Croatian assistant administration minister Mirko
Tankosic.
