ZAGREB, Sept 4 (Hina) - A delegation of Croatia's Immigration and
Foreign Ministries would leave for Slovenia on Thursday on its
two-day official visit, the Immigration Ministry said in a
statement. The delegation will be led by a Deputy Immigration
Minister, Josip Juras.
During the tour, Croatian representatives will visit
Croatian communities in Ljubljana and Maribor, and hold several
meetings with Slovenian government officials.
According to unofficial figures, in Slovenia there are
about 55,000 Croatians, and about 11,500 of them live in the
Slovenian capital. In Maribor there are about 5,000 Croatians. In
percentage terms, the highest number of residents of the Croatian
origin is in the Slovenian part of the Istrian peninsula. Out of
the total number of residents in Slovenian Istrian municipalities
of Kopar, Piran and Izola, 10 percent is the Croatian population,
whereas in the municipality of Metlika the percent of Croatians
in the population is 12.49.
