ZAGREB, Aug 22 (Hina) - A two-day meeting of the agriculture
ministers of Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA)
countries began in the Slovenian town of Maribor on Friday.
The session, chaired by Slovenian Agriculture Minister
Ciril Smrkolj, involves ministers from Poland, the Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
Also attending is Croatian Assistant Minister of
Agriculture and Forestry Vlado Bicanic although Croatia has not
yet become a full member.
Under discussion will be the development of agriculture and
mutual trade, with special emphasis on trade relations between
CEFTA countries and the European Union.
Earlier ministerial meetings in Budapest and Bratislava
reaffirmed the commitment of CEFTA countries to structural
changes, including the adjustment of legislation, as a condition
for accession to the EU.
