OSIJEK, Sept 2 (Hina) - We regarded the re-opening of the railway line from
Osijek (Croatia) to Pecs (Hungary) as the return of life to the Croatian
Danube river area and as the linking of the two neighbouring countries, and
the railway line would be now restored toward Bosnia-Herzegovina, Marijan
Klaric, the Croatian Railways (HZ) director-general, said at a news
conference in Osijek on Tuesday.
According to Klaric, in next two months repairs on the railway track
will continue when a bridge across the river of Bosut near Vinkovci and a
bridge across the river of Sava near Brcko, north-eastern Bosnia-
Herzegovina, are to be reconstructed and the Hungarian economy is
expected to participate in it.
Klaric voiced hope that for a draft time table in 1998-99 Croatian and
Hungarian railways would propose that a train for international passenger
traffic should travel from Budapest via Osijek, the Bosnian capital of
Sarajevo and Mostar, to the Croatian port of Ploce.
